The Flag of Gual and Espaņa
The first attempt to give Venezuela a National Flag was deed of Manuel Gual and Jose Maria Espaņa the conspiracy was discovered on the night of July 13 of 1,797 and both were taken prisoner.
This flag has the following symbolism:
The vertical stripes: yellow, red, white and blue, represent social classes: indians, half-caste, blacks and whites. The horizontal blue stripe with four stars symbolize the provinces of Caracas, Maracaibo, Cumana and Guayana, and as well as the values of equality, liberty, property and security. The sun on the white quarter, symbol of the motherland, equality and the egalitarian law for all.

The First Flags of Francisco de Miranda
The first flags devised by Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda are only remembrances of the previous flag; including the tricolour of parallel stripes and equal width, with black, red and yellow colors, alluding to the social classes: black, half-caste and Indian, which is contained in the General Archive of the Indies in Seville, under the name of "The Flag of Miranda planned for his Columbian Army ".

In the corvette Leander hoisted a banner depicting on the blue field 'The Heaven and The Sea', a full moon symbolizing the decline of the Spanish Empire, a sun represented the American freedom that rises on the horizon. And a red pennant with the motto: 'MUERA LA TIRANIA VIVA LA LIBERTAD'.

On 12 March 1,806 in Haiti was hoisted the first tricolour that would serve as model for the current National Flag. This one already represented the three national colors: yellow, blue and red.
