The Coat of Arms of Vargas Municipality

Heraldical Description

The municipality Vargas (Vargas state, Venezuela) is the only municipality of Vargas state with which it shares the territory, but which is in charge at another level.

The coat of arms of the municipality Vargas presents at its first Quarter a ship arriving to the coast by the Port of La Guaira.

The lower right quarter presents a Phrygian cap between gold laurels, representing Vargas struggle for independence, as precursors Gual and Spain.

The lower left quarter presents an anchor, which represents the maritime vocation since all the parishes of the municipality have coast and many have docks.

Supports: A swordfish, rifles and palm trees and cannons.

The Chief of the shield has a castle and a rising sun.

Motto: A ribbon presents the ephemeris: '20 de julio de 1589', date of the founding of the Guaira — '20 de abril de 1810', date on exiting the Guaira the last Spanish ruler Vicente Emparam — and the municipality's name : 'Municipio Vargas'.
