The Coat of Arms of Acarigua City

Heraldical Description

The Coat of Arms of acarigua City consist in a field divided per Pale with the sinister side per Fess.

First quarter, Per pale, dexter, enameled in Or (yellow) shows an effigy with mace and arrow reminiscent of the Cacique Acarigua, who ruled a tribe of Indians Caquetíos and Cuybas, residents in the land where the city is today. Because of its high status as head she appears on the coat of arms carrying feather headbands and colorful necklaces.

Second quarter, dexter side, in chief, Azure (Blue enamel), This image is a piece of wood topped by a gold star, recalls the apparition of the Virgin of the bark, venerated in the city and was stolen but until now has not been recovered.

Third quarter, dexter side, in base, Vert (Green enalmel), a white Franciscan cord, a black wide-brimmed hat and a stick carved in the way the missionaries used. They are evocation of the Franciscan missionaries.

As external ornaments, the Coat of Arms presents two branches of green coffee tree laden with red berries, whose limbs are crossed behind the shield.

Supporters: Two color arrows crossing behind the Shield.

Crest: The crown of silver (white) used in the shields of the cities.

Motto: In a tape of silver (white) date: September 29, 1620, which is the foundation of the city.
